The Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) program educates volunteers about disaster preparedness for the hazards that may impact their area and trains them in basic disaster response skills, such as fire safety, light search and rescue, team organization, and disaster medical operations. CERT offers a consistent, nationwide approach to volunteer training and organization that professional responders can rely on during disaster situations, allowing them to focus on more complex tasks.
The Coffee County C.E.R.T team is currently housed under our agency. Currently we have 16 members from all walks of life. They meet on the 3rd Thursday of each month at our office to train together and learn new ways to keep their county safe and work on team building exercises. Periodically our agency puts on C.E.R.T classes for anyone new that would like to become a member of our team or for individuals who would just like some extra knowledge to keep their families safe during disasters. If you have an interest please feel free to contact us and we will see what we can do to help!

A portion of our C.E.R.T. members are certified amateur radio operators
and stay up to date on the latest trends utilizing this method of communication when all other methods fail.
During the Covid-19 pandemic our C.E.R.T. members have assisted in various roles to aid with limiting the spread of the virus and assist with vaccination pods. This includes temperature checks for county business meetings to ensure county government can keep running as well as assisting the TN Dept. of Health and National Guard
with traffic control for mass testing sites.
